Steps to Compare two Microsoft Word Documents

Microsoft Word has a compare feature in which you can compare two documents of your choice and see the highlighted differences between the two.

  1. Open the Microsoft Word file on your PC or System.
  2. Click on the Review Tab, and you will find the Compare option.
  3. In the Compare option, there are other two options like original documents and revised documents.
  4. In the original document, you need to choose the original word file.
  5. On the Revised document, select the document you want to compare to the document as chosen above.
  6. You can also select Label.
  7. Then, click OK.

How to see the Compared Word Documents

  1. After clicking on the OK button, four boxes will open.
  2. The four boxes consist of Revision, Compared, Original, and Revised documents.
  3. The Revision box will show you the text list like insertions, delete, and formatting in the revised document.
  4. In the Compared section, you will see some highlighted words. This highlights area helps you to see what changes have been made in the revised document.
  5. Click the Review tab and choose the All Mark-up option from the icon.
  6. The All Mark-up option will display all the changes made in the original document with a red color.

Steps to Combine Two Microsoft Documents

  1. Open MS Word on your system.
  2. Click on the Review tab.
  3. After clicking on the review tab, you will find the Combine option in the Compare icon.
  4. In the Combine option, there will be two options- Original and Revised.
  5. You need to upload the word documents in both options to merge.
  6. Click OK.
  7. You can now see that any revised copy changes are merged into a new copy based on the original copy of the document.
