The task scheduler started with Windows. Task scheduler is a program that is built into Windows. It allows you to schedule programs to be launched on scheduled times and dates. You can easily open the task scheduler by searching it on the search bar. Click on the task scheduler from search results to open it.

User Interface

On the left-hand side of the menu, you will see the list of tasks that have already been set. On the right-hand side, you will get your action options. In other words, you can create new tasks here. You can set schedules for several things. Some of them are:

  • Windows applications,
  • Send an Email,
  • Show a Message, and
  • Complex scripts.

Task Scheduler Library

You will get a list of all the tasks that are scheduled to happen on your computer as well as on your laptop. You will get this option from the right-hand side of the menu. Simply click on the Task Scheduler Library option.

  • Tasks can be scheduled to execute in the following criteria:
  • When the computer enters an idle state.
  • At a specific time on a daily, weekly, as well as monthly schedule.
  • When a specific system event occurs.
  • When the system is booted.

New Task

You can easily create a new action or task from the task scheduler. Just follow these steps:

  • Firstly, click on the create the basic task from the right-hand side of the menu.
  • Fill up the name for the task and description.
  • Click on the Next button.
  • Select the task trigger.
  • Click again on the Next button.
  • From this menu, you can set the time for the task.
  • Further, click on the Next button.
  • Select the action.
  • Select the next button.
  • If you want to start a program, then select it from the menu.
  • Finally, press the Finish button to save the task.

You can select the daily, weekly, monthly, and more options inside the task trigger option. You can also select it when a specific event is launched. In the action menu, you can choose between starting a program, sending an email, or displaying a message option.

Remove The Task

If you want to prevent any action or task from the list, you will have to remove it. Removing any listed task is simple and easy.

  • Firstly, Click on the task or action folder.
  • Further, Select the task from the menu.
  • Finally, Right-click and delete the task.

You can also delete the task or event folder. Right-click on the task or event folder and then select the delete option from the list. This action will also delete the folder and remove everything from the task folder.

Advanced Task Scheduler

If you select the create task option instead of basic tasks, you will get a lot more advanced settings you can choose from. Advanced tasks and basic tasks are pretty much the same. The only difference is that you will get more options and more control over the triggers.

If the scheduled action or task is missed for some reason, you can set it to be launched as soon as the PC or laptop is on next time under the create task. You can also choose when the task begins under the create task option. There are several options select from at startup, at login, on an event, and many more options. You can also run the scheduled task at any time. You can do this by clicking right and selecting the run command.
