If you don’t want to face issues with your offline maps, you will need to enable automatic updates from the Google Maps offline settings. This action keeps your downloaded map updated. You can opt when you want to update the map, either with Wi-Fi or cellular data. 

While using offline maps, you won’t be able to use everything you get with online Google Maps. You get access to limited features. For example, you won’t be able to access bike routes, walking directions, traffic information, lane guidance, and more. You can only search for addresses, find businesses along with navigating to them. 

Ways to download offline maps

After understanding offline maps, now the time is to download them on your device. Here is how. 

• First, you have to launch the Google Maps app on your device. 
• Locate your profile picture from the upper right corner and hit on it. 
• From the available options, you have to click on the Offline maps option. 
• Google often suggests you download your most visited places. If you don’t find your desired area in the suggested options, click Select your own map.  
• Now, you need to pick the area you wish to download offline. 
• You can adjust the map using your fingers. 
• After selecting your desired area, click the Download button from the bottom right corner. 
• After downloading the maps, you can use the allowed features to navigate places.
